- An account needs to work where the business sells
To receive Etsy Payments payouts, a seller must connect and verify a bank account. When a USD account uses US bank details and Plaid's manual verification option, the process includes a $0.01 microdeposit with a three-letter code in the transaction description.
The deposit may arrive while the seller is still unable to complete verification. This happens when the account does not display the full transaction description — the exact place where the code requested by Etsy appears.
TroqPay solved this flow for an Estonia-based business selling on Etsy. Its USD virtual account received the microdeposit, displayed the full code, and was verified. The business then started receiving its Etsy sales payouts by ACH.
How to find the Etsy bank account verification code
For the manual verification of a US bank account, the process is:
- choose Plaid's manual connection option;
- enter the account number and electronic routing number;
- wait for the $0.01 microdeposit;
- open the full details of the incoming transaction;
- find the three letters displayed after the
#symbol; - return to Etsy and enter the letters without the symbol.
If the description shows #ABC, for example, the code to enter is ABC. The
actual code is unique and must be retrieved from the transaction received in
the account.
Etsy's documentation instructs sellers to use the electronic routing number, not the wire transfer routing number. Etsy says the deposit generally appears in three to five days and may take up to seven days in some cases.
Real case: an Estonian business received Etsy payouts through TroqPay
The business sold on Etsy and needed to connect a new business account in USD. With the alternatives it had tried before, it could not access the information required to complete verification.
With a TroqPay USD virtual account, the microdeposit arrived with the full transaction description. The customer found the three-letter code, entered it on Etsy, and completed verification. Etsy sales payouts then started arriving by ACH in the business's virtual account.
The result was a complete flow: verification completed, third-party payments enabled, and Etsy sales payouts arriving in the business account.
TroqPay virtual accounts let businesses receive third-party payments from marketplaces, platforms, and customers. All funds received in USD or EUR are converted to USDC or USDT and held in the customer's TroqPay account balance.
Want to receive Etsy sales payouts in USD? The process is self-service: open your TroqPay account, complete business verification (KYB), and set up your USD virtual account.
Code, deposit amount, or bank document: which verification applies?
The business's country and the bank account's location are not the same thing. A European business may have USD account details, but it must follow the exact flow Etsy displays for the account being added.
- US bank account connected through Plaid's manual option: a $0.01 microdeposit and a three-letter code in the description.
- Non-US bank account in the same currency as the shop: a small deposit followed by confirmation of the amount received.
- Account and shop in different currencies, or a flow sent for review: a bank document upload, as requested by Etsy.
The account name must also match the person or legal entity listed in the shop's legal and tax information. Repeatedly changing details or entering the wrong verification information may trigger an additional review.
The microdeposit did not arrive or the code is missing. What should you do?
If Etsy's stated timeframe has passed, check whether:
- the account number was entered correctly;
- the electronic routing number for ACH was used instead of the wire routing number;
- the account can receive ACH credits;
- the business name matches the shop's legal and tax information;
- the transaction details show the full description;
- Etsy Payments shows a pending request or alert.
Some interfaces display only the amount, date, and an abbreviated sender name. In that situation, the microdeposit may be visible while the code is not. Ask the account provider for the full transaction details before restarting the verification process, and do not guess the code.
If the bank details were changed more than once, use only the newest deposit. Etsy states that older deposits become invalid and that multiple unsuccessful attempts may lead to additional review.
Can a virtual account be used to receive Etsy payouts?
Yes. That is exactly what happened with the Estonian business: its TroqPay USD virtual account received the microdeposit, displayed the verification code, and, after verification, started receiving Etsy payouts by ACH.
To complete the process, use the correct account number and electronic routing number, then check the full microdeposit description inside TroqPay.
Do not enter wire details in a field that requests an electronic routing number. ACH and Wire may use different instructions even when both move USD. Learn more in our guide to ACH, Wire, SWIFT, and SEPA.
Review the Etsy Payments Policy when setting up the shop's payout details.
Receiving Etsy payouts in USD with more control
For businesses selling through international marketplaces, the process does not end when a payout arrives. The finance team still needs to identify its source, reconcile the amount, and decide how to use the balance.
TroqPay brings international receiving and balance management into one account:
- USD virtual accounts for third-party payments through ACH, Wire, or SWIFT;
- EUR virtual accounts for payments through SEPA;
- conversion of all funds received in USD or EUR into USDC or USDT;
- funds held in the customer's TroqPay account balance, with transaction visibility for reconciliation and financial management.
The business can receive where it sells and keep the funds ready for its next decision: pay, convert, or move money across markets.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I find the Etsy bank account verification code?
For the manual verification of a US bank account, the code appears in the
description of the $0.01 microdeposit. Find the three letters after the #
symbol and enter only those letters on Etsy.
The $0.01 deposit arrived, but the code is missing. What should I do?
Open the full transaction details and look for the payment reference or description. If the interface does not show it, contact the account provider before repeating the verification process. Do not try to guess the code.
How long does Etsy's microdeposit take?
Etsy tells sellers to check their account after three to five days and notes that the test deposit may take up to seven days. Timing can vary depending on business days and the institutions involved.
Why did the TroqPay virtual account work in this case?
It received the ACH microdeposit and displayed the full transaction description, including the code required by Etsy. After verification, the same account started receiving the business's Etsy sales payouts.
An account needs to work where the business sells
Getting bank details in another market is only the first step. For a global business, the account needs to work in the actual sales flow: receive the microdeposit, display the right reference, complete verification, and receive marketplace payouts.
That is what the TroqPay USD virtual account enabled in this case.
Ready to receive sales payouts in USD? Open your TroqPay account, complete KYB, and start setting up your virtual account.
This flow may not apply to every business. Availability depends on the account setup and Etsy's rules. TroqPay provides technology and is not a bank; regulated services are provided by licensed institutions. Etsy and Plaid are not affiliated with TroqPay.
